Chapter 51 - A meeting of Villians and a Scientist death and a recruitment.

"Look, I prevented a psycho from screwing with your Particle Accelerator ground work project and killing you and your wife. The least you could do is pay me back." Max said a little angry.

"Despite everything you have told me, that does not mean I have to help you." Dr.Wells replied. Looking to his wife who remained quiet. She excused herself taking the baby with her. "You could be lying still."

"Haaa, I have listed the shitty projects you have and the ones you have not even started on. Not going to play this game with you Wells. Either help me or else." Max's voice was cold as he spoke.

"I won't do it."

"Then enjoy what you have. Central City won't receive any help from me in the future." Max summoned a Mirror and stepped through it. Thoughts on stopping in National City were pushed away. As well as going to England. 'To soon to mess with that place. As well as Canada.'

Dr.Wells watched the creature known as the Watcher disappear. Pressing a button on his chair console to contact his cohorts. Several monitors appeared. Showing the faces of Ra's Al Ghul, Dr.Manhattan, Vandal Savage, Onomatopoeia, Overmaster, and a Yellow Creature of energy that looked like an insect.

"He made contact as you said." Dr.Wells said towards Dr.Manhattan. Tone respectful but fear in his eyes. He did not like the creature really. Despite him being a human from a different Earth. A destroy reality that Max did not allow to fold into this one. "He still escapes us as well as his people."

"The power he wields, or that she wields is something." Dr.Manhatten did not glow a single bit. Not even 1/1000000 of his power remained. On reason he was still a solid entity was because of the Overmaster. The alien scientist kept him from dissipating in the fringes of space. "Weakened or preoccupied allow us to move further with plans."

"Plans that are not ready to start in the least." Vandal Savage said simply. The Immortal Caveman knew when things ere ready to start and when they were not. Over 50,000 years old and having ruled many civilations it would be dumb not to listen to him. Ra's Al Ghul was a good match for him. Human wise anyway. "Despite my warnings, you new members do not listen. It will cost you in the end."

"Overmaster agrees that it will be fine." Dr.Wells stated. Receiving a nod from the creature. "Considering the Creature knows certain events and has meddled constantly across the globe, it is only a matter of time before he comes for a group like us."

*Cree!* The yellow creature made a little noise. Dr.Manhattan and the Overmaster shuddered. The two very aware of the Cosmic creatures might. Even with them all not in the same room, tucked away in their various lairs and labs they felt the touch.

"Cowardice at its finest." The yellow creature moved about on the screen. A type of confinement that would not hold it much longer. Especially with the help it received from the fool Dr.Manhattan breaching the reality of the World. "The failed rewrite of our reality, I will be free sooner than expected. Now you will make a good host Dr.Wells."

"I must respectfully decline." Dr.Wells said adamantly. His sweat soaking his chair. "But Onomatopoeia would be perfect. Especially considering his work." Onomatopoeia was a terrible killer of the highest order. Few could stop him or her. The Mask with an almost hypnotic swirl changed over the years. "Especially since the Cabal is having trouble."

"That can wait later. Heed this one warning. Do not move against that creature. Especially while we can not track those mirrors." Vandal Savage said abruptly. Something drew his attention away from the meeting. Excusing himself since they were talking about matters that need him. 'I was a fool for working these aliens. Something must be done about them.'

*Ding!* The screen closed of Vandal Savage. Followed by Ra's Al Ghul. He said nothing not caring at all about the newbies.

"Ding!" Onomatopoeia made the noise of the screen closing before leaving. A message left on the screen.

"A Scarab has been found in Canada. I am getting it." Dr.Wells read out. The others smiling ruefully. "Overmaster, how goes the station project coming?"

"It goes well enough." Overmaster answered neutrally. "A few more workers would make it much better. Currently ahead of schedule by 2 months. But the Dark Matter you provided before, it is already dry so to speak." His frown was very prominent. As long as the project was ahead, the human had no reason to dig deeper into what he was doing."

"I.. will try to obtain more." Dr.Wells said reluctantly. "I will need higher technology of course. Earth is still catching up. But a few avenues do look promising." His eyes passed over a holoscreen on Wayne, Kord, and Starr industries. 'I will have to partner with them to stay ahead.'

"Done human. I look forward to talking to you in half a years time." Overmaster closed the screen and moved about in his lab. His little assistant sleeping on his shoulder. The doors opened to a large chamber. Inside was a large monstrosity of a man. Not a man really. A monster. "My Lord Darkseid, soon enough will be retrieved for your return to strength."

'Good.' Darkseid answered succinctly. A recent bout with those of New Genesis of a planet ended badly. Not only was his fleet sent decimated, but the New Genesis forces aligned with the Green Lanterns in that Sector. Making things much harder. 'Make sure the yellow creatures gains its freedom. Even speed it up if you must.'

"Of course." Overmaster left the chamber after checking everything over. The Dark Matter was for Darkseid of course. Just small amounts were turned over. OVermaster was plotting his downfall after all. Just needed to bide his time. 'Soon I will be free of that abomination.'

*Ding Ding!* A collar around the Overmaster's neck made him very compliant.

Dr.Wells finished speaking with the others. Once the room was just to him, he pressed a button on the command console. A compartment opened. It revealed a blue scarab and four light scarabs.

"Took so long to repair this. But, the tech is more human than anything now." Dr.Wells lifted it up and attached it to his left arm. "Ugh!" A drill buried into his arm as several mechanical wiring moved into his body. "Uggh, almost finished."

As the process finished, Dr.Wells learned new technology and ways to connect with current earth tech. A foreign entity tried to take over his neural systems. But Dr.Wells was quite intelligent. A neuro inhibitor blocked it at once.

"Humph, the Reach will pay for thinking they can take earth." Dr.Wells said smugly. A simple thought and he returned to normal. Just in time to go and spend time with his wife and child. "Time for a story." Leaving the room, he missed the change in the room.

*Chk!* A scarab lifted up. And disappeared in a portal. An exact copy remaining behind. Before the neuro inhibitor took full effect, the presence in the scarab jumped to one of the others.

Where it was going, no one would know until it was to late.

.

Max appeared in Oxford University. As himself to speak with some one. He waited till after the lecture was over before coming up to her. Marlize Malan was a very brilliant kind hearted woman. A brilliant engineer in Robotics and Engineering.

"Ah, Maxmillion!" Marlize called out in her British accent. Her black hair moving about naturally. She moved to Max giving a warm hug. "What do I owe the unexpected surprise?"

"I want you to take over a project for me." Max gestured for her to walk with him. From Max's shadow a demon left to take care of someone. To turn them into a vegetable, which is what the deserved after he found out the madman's plans. "The Peace Corp work you thought about, I want to invest in it heavily."

"Oh, and what do you get out of it?" Marlize said in interest. "The Terraforming project you already started is promising. Must be nice to have your own country to play with. Mind giving me acces to that work?" Her eyes lit up in mischief. Watching as Max's usual stoic demeanor was broken. 'I doubt he is desperate. But he looks more approachable.'

"An amazing researcher and humanitarian on my side of course." Max said simply. "I just want.. reports on how things go of course. Input if you request it. But I need help with the places in Africa, Berlin, Nevada, and Australia. As well as my country. But the land is going great. Completed tilled and infused."

"Infused!" Marlize got in front stopping him. A few in the hall watching intently. Due to Max's height and body weight, he could pass as a college student with ease. "The Soil Restoration Project worked! Let me see the reports!" Seeing Max just blink made her more impatient. "Come on Max!"

Allowing himself to be grabbed, Marlize pulled him along swiftly. The two arrived at her Flat with no issues. Max suprised at how happy she was. As well as her energy.

'Bleeding hearts always the worst. Max thought. The other issue of their contact was starting up. Charity and Lust both wanted her. The third time that Charity wanted someone to such an extent. 'Oh boy, I was afraid this would happen.'

"Completely secure next work Max!" Marlize moved about getting different computers and linking them up. Boosting security even further by using satellite uplinks to monitor things. "Mi-1 owes me a favor, so it will be fine."

"Eh hehe.." Max chuckled dryly. He removed a thumb drive and handed it to her. "The basic notes for you to have period. From one to another. No strings attached here." As she plug in, Max reached by his neck taking a small attachment out of his flesh.

"Oh, so you did that huh? Does it hurt?" Marlize knew a few that did the same thing. Allowing them to interface with certain computers with ease. She herself had not done it because of several reasons. Like cost for one. "I will wait till biochips are cheaper."

"Home made so.. yeah." Max pulled up and turned the laptop to her. A few graphs showing her soil samples. "So, the waste in most of the soil has been removed. Adding chemical G-12 eats away at it. Now the problem is the methane type gas it produces is to potent."

"Ah, but the work I have developed is capable of separating the carbon that created in the process." Marlize spotted the issue immediately. "Way better than your current methods. But then again your methods are just slow. A decade or two and you won't have an issue at this rate. But this is still great work."

"True, but will we need a faster, better method to do large areas. The slow method will not work if we are trying to solve food issues in certain countries. As well as areas for wildlife." Max didn't look away from her. "Are you willing to work with me on this?"

"As long as we can negotiate on some matters, I do not see why not." Marlize remained quiet for a few hours as she read things over. Switching back and forth between his basic findings and his ending work. "Oh?"

"What is it?"

"This element M, what is it? Not in any of the first notes Maxmillion."

"I cannot tell you that. A secret I am afraid." Max would not budge without certain assurances. "Only for partners."

"It is not in the beginning work until heavy treatment was needed. Extremely small volumes of it used." Marlize brow furrowed. Looking at the vast reactions with the chemical was a marvel. "I will sign. Just give me the contract." She didn't look up as Max made a contract appear. Signing it abstendmindley. "Oww!"

*Poof!* The contract burst into spirit energy entering her. The knowledge assaulting her senses.

"I.. see... I.. see." Marlize recovered quite fast. Eyes staring at Max wildly in fascination. "The element M, it is you. This spiritual blood that you remove from your very soul. How marvelous. Can all cultivators do this?"

"Yes. But they do not." Max said with a relaxing smile. Large quantities of Charity energy already coursing through him for later. "To do so, is like taking a grater and shaving a layer off to the untrained. For the trained, it is like pulling a hair. Then it must be refined for normal use."

"And G-12 is something else you gave up but mixed with anothers. Much harder to make."

"Yeah.. but I have a plan to make that easier. It is just going to hurt." Max stood up to leave her to her work. "You have a lot to go over and think about. Security will be nearby for when you need it."

"Umm how about no to demons. Hehe.. my team would most likely freak out." Marlize said quickly. "Don't you have something more.. conventional?"

"Three person team that should not exist, hows that sound?" Max already contacted the three planning to do something else with them, but this works to. She nodded. "Good, Walter Kovacs Rorschach, Silk Spectre Laurie Juspeczyk, Night-Owl Daniel Dreiberg are a little odd."

"How odd?" Marlize stopped and stared at him. Watching as a mirror appeared and he stepped in. "So many new possibilities." His disappearance took her breath away. But she was knocked out of it quickly. her phone started buzzing and emails poured in. "My whole team... received the offer... geez Maxmillion."
