Max enjoyed the days in the town. Having gathered the data enough to enact the soil treatment was fine work. Using the actual meteor rocks to do so as a bonus. Which caused the government to get off his back on why he was using it.
Raven contacted him about a legal problem that came up. The D.A. had served a warrant for his arrest. The Falcone's were behind it, which was fine. The case was solved in closed court with out Max even having to be there. Instead of returning to Gotham High School, he would be joining Gotham Military Academy.
Which the presiding judge agreed to no problem. Thinking it would help straightened Max out. He was at the unveiling that resulted in several people getting arrested. The judge was a clean man, a bit old fashioned however. Thinking the situation could have been done delicately.
A few of his friends were upset. Even more than himself. Seeing that he was only slightly bothered over the group call. slightly terrible morning from all the gripping. Especially when he hung up on them.
Currently, Max was at the Talon. Relaxing and planning on going for a walk later.
"Max!" Pete called. The young man was very happy over the last week. He and Chloe went on a date a day ago. Which to Max was a good outcome. Better than her pinning over Clark. Lana was so into looking up her heritage, she broke up with Whitney the day after signing a contract with Max.
"Sup brother?" Max gave him a fist pound then sat back down. Drinking his coffee once again. A few gingerbread cookies to the side. Homemade by Nell. Which Max was grateful for Claire not being with him. They were delicious. "Happy?"
"You bet. We had fun." Pete was all smiles still. On cloud nine. "Trying to take it slow. But man, it is hard. Especially with the competition I have."
"Only a problem if you are not honest. Clark and Chloe are a bad match. Maybe she will see it, maybe she won't. Just be there for her." Max sipped his coffee watching the other people enter as well. The place was backed enough with a lot of the people getting stuff to go to work. "It will happen or it won't."
"Yeah. Dad said the same thing." He looked Max over and couldn't help but ask about a few rumors. "So, you were shot I heard." He received a nod of approval. "Not pressing charges either."
"Nope. They have enough problems. Which the tribe will have to deal with on their own. Does not mean I will not get payback." Max watched as Kyla Willbrook came in. Having taken the advice Max gave her father about getting a job. The young skinwalker was good and her job already. Quite a few men and women giving her a double look. Not really caring she was a minor. "Try not to mess with her in a bad way. A bit of a temper."
"I bet." Pete looked away from her. "Which ever guy gets her will have trouble on their hands. Well, it sucks you are leaving already."
"Not my home. Just business. Does not mean I wouldn't have enjoyed growing up here mind you. I am entertained very easily." Max went back to sipping his coffee. Pete and himself just shooting the shit.
Lena came over with Lex. Which was more than interesting enough considering things. Pete excused himself taking off quickly. Why, Max had know idea.
"Max, looking good for someone who was shot." Lena said still miffed. Despite knowing he would be ok, it still bothered her. Same as Lex. He just kept quite about it. "You even hung up on us."
"To be fair.. you all were annoyng this morning." Max took a bite of the gingerbread cookie. "Sit and try to have a good morning. No need for trouble. Yes?"
"You are right." Lex reached over for a cookie. Max smacked his hand and waved his finger at him. "Ouch. So greedy."
"I have people who snatch my snacks all the time back home. I rather not have the same thing happen here." Max moved the plate away. "You and Claire are exactly the same in that regard."
"Yeah yeah." Lex grumbled. He ordered some things with Lena. "So, the chemicals. WIll they work well enough?"
"Yup. And pretty natural. Small doses to make sure nothing happens of course. It will cost a little more for my company. But it provides jobs for the area. And helps with the town developing more. Future job interest in the Agriculture area. Which is really bad as of late."
"Hmm, sowing seeds for the future." Lena said with a grin. "Bialya will need it. As well as your own country. Really weird you made a Sovereign Nation like that. Especially in such a shitty area."
"Have to have a place to go back to in case I screw up in the states." Max leaned back and stretched. Grimacing slightly at his shoulder wound for show. "Not like it is something people care about for now. Nor real exports. But the construction is going fine. Soil is fertile and will be ready for more heavy planting in a month or so."
"Then coming here was good for the develop as well." Lex said understanding. If tests in Kansas went well, then it was likely it would go well in other areas. "I do like it here. Defintely better than back home. But, so much to do there."
The waitress came over. It was Kyla. She gave the Luthors their orders but lingered looking at Max. She gave him an envelop before leaving.
"Well, that was weird." Lena stated.
"Eh, we are distantly related." Max shrugged. He opened the envelop reading things over. A small sponsorship to have him admitted into the tribe. The others agreed after confirming Clark was Naman. Despite him not really coming forward into the caves. To concerned with his secret. "How nice."
"If I moved here, you think things would go well?" Lena asked. Max just arched an eyebrow at her. "Sick of boarding school. And since you are going to a military school, it will be harder to hang out."
"Nah, it will be fine." Max thought to her next. 'We can still talk this way at times. But do not become disinterested in others. Smallville would be a good place for you. Quite a number of people with a metagene are around.'
"I think it would be better for you as well." Lex added in. "I think you would be safer here than in that school to." He was very mindful of his sister since he was making moves that may cause trouble. Lex was no stranger to bullies that did things because of his father's business deals.
After discussing a little more, the trio parted. Max went around till he came to one of his properties. Making sure no one was around. He placed a large spell Formation down on the ground.
To a passerby it would look like a crop circle. If the grass didn't grow back so quickly that is. A spiritual view would give a view of the image of a large tree. Spiritual energy as drawn from high above.
The energy would refine and store in the ground. Gathering for later use. The land would receive an increase in growth. Which would feed the plants Max was growing in the area.
The fruit that would grow were spiritual fruit. Three different types. Large melons that grew red tints to them. Tiny little blueberries that were cold to the touch. And kiwi that glowed yellow.
"Mutated fruit as far as any trespassers will know." Max couldn't wait till they grow. Behind him, a few creatures appeared. Not demons but magical creatures to protect the place. "If some one sneaks onto the property, blow their brains out. ENough signs are up to warn people."
"Of course Master." The young man that lead the group said. A total of six of them to watch over the property. "Anyone allowed to enter?"
"Nope. I will alert you if any is given permission. All of my people no better to come here." Max turned to them. His eyes glowing white hot. "Do be careful, this is the last chance I am giving your kind."
"Of course. Thank you once more master." The young man bowed along with the others. Max left the area. Heading to a vehicle far down the road. "Haaa, oh boy."
"Mitchell, we can do this. He kept his word and revived us didnt he?" A shorthair redhead said to him. The other two just keeping quiet. They rather things go well and not die once more. "I am ready to just live for once. Our entire home is gone. No reason to fight for it anymore."
"I know. We should not have listened to Cronus." Mitchel said. He was still upset about what happen. His siblings behind him were all expendable to the mad Titan. "A peaceful life wont be so bad. Especially as we figure out what we will do next."
The others spread out leaving just the youngest. No more than a toddler but full of immense power. Her name was Devastation. Or Deva for short. Created from the same magical clay as Diana. As well as a blood drop from her.
Cronus created them earlier than what was set. Several years in fact to undo what Max was planning. Which was a direct threat to his plans for Olympus. Each of them were killed in space. Around Mars trying to take it over for themselves. Escaping with the aide of Max who became aware of them.
No real plans for them besides a promise to revive them for something. Stripped of a lot of their power, which was turned over to Gaia to do what she pleased. Not something Max himself wanted. To tainted but crazy he said.
Deva looked at the almost endless grass. Finding it very peaceful. A stirring inside her to do vilolence was suppressed by the formation.
"A prison. But not a bad one." Deva muttered. She looked high into the sky. Looking past the clouds into Olympus. In a chamber where a few of the Greek Pantheon slumbered. One in particular stirred awake. "He is awake. Good luck Max."
.
Olympus-
.
Her eyes pulled away before she was caught. The God she saw was none other than Ares.
Earth had enough war going on that he always recovered so quickly. And what happened on Mars recently with the Martians, enough was stirred to make him act.
Ares stepped out spreading his senses out. A backlash hit him full on. Stunning the God of War slightly. A warning from someone. Who, he had no idea. But his arrogance would not stop him.
"Humph, someone wants to play." Ares said amused. casting his gaze on Earth proved faulty. He couldn't look to far. Or pierce in to see. It was heavily blocked from him. "Who dares to block me?!"
"Enough brother." A soothing voice said. The Goddess Artemis came out. Dressed in light leaves and mud. A bow on her back as well as a bear pelt. From her forehead, two antlers went towards the sky. "Things have changed as you slept. It would be best if you listen before acting."
"Humph!" Ares begrundingly did so.
As Artemis spoke, Ares went through countless outlooks of rage. Not really listening after the first five minutes. He shot to Earth the moment she finished. Heading straight to Gotham of all places.
"Well, can not say he was not warned." Artemis had a very evil look on her face. It vanished a moment later as Athena walked in. "How are you, Athena?"
"Bothered. Why did you do that?" Athena frowned. Face showing disappointment more than anything along with her tone. "So much going on and you instigate things further."
"Oh please. He would find a way there sooner or later." Artemis shrugged. Her brother "Hunting" Max would be great entertainment. And give a great bit of power. "Both of them need to be punished. No reason to not do so."
"Haaa, I see." Athena shook her head not wanting to cause any friction. Especially since they both with in their rights to do so. "I will not interfere. Just be careful. Old grudges have a way of coming back. Not Max's fault he killed your "plaything" back then."
"Tch! My Artio was no plaything!" Artemis said angered. She made no move against Athena despite her anger. She was not stupid to attack her unprepared. "The Celts were not happy either!"
"Then you should have stopped her from killing his son then. He was just a boy." Athena said coldly. Her hand on her stomach but a blade underneath. "Bury it, sister. Before it is to late. I am going back to work. You should try it some time."
As Athena left, Artemis felt her anger leave her. The idea of the mortal Max causing her trouble was amusing. It is not like she hated him. Just a grudge for killing her friend Artio. And causing Orion to doubt himself at one point.
"Humph, I will see what he does." Artemis moved over to a large saucer. Inside was magical water that worked as a mirror. She used it to scour the Earth. Something only a few of them did anymore. The others like Ares, Hermes, Apollo, and Hephaestus rather just gaze downward. "Hmm, so Circe is free of her curse. How did that happen?"
Max was back in his den preparing his breakthrough. The light from the Kryptonian dagger would work as a good counter agent against the high-level Sin he had stored. A backup if other things fall through.
