He initially just wanted to experiment because when he activated his right eye earlier, the pressure it emitted not only immobilized the mushrooms but even the viridian mist floating in the air seemed to freeze in time, stopping completely.
For this reason, upon learning from the little ones that the viridian mist within Reeves' spirit would evade, he decided to try using the pressure from his right eye's green pattern to see if he could intimidate the viridian mist.

Angel activated the green pattern of his right eye, and as the mask appeared, the terrifying pressure suppressed Reeves' spirit. Not only did the viridian mist stop moving, but even the continuous strange mushroom phenomena on him ceased.
Seizing the opportunity, the little ones moved forward and absorbed all the viridian mist from within Reeves.
