Although it's hard to observe a bee's expression, Blair, being an intelligent bee, has a gaze, emotions it emits, and some subtle actions that allow Angel to vaguely sense its mood.
From this series of conversations, Angel can roughly deduce that Blair seems to deeply admire Shava, but in fact, it has never interacted with Shava.
This is actually quite similar to some other Nightmare Realm creatures Angel has encountered in the past. Angel still doesn't know what kind of being Shava really is. The only thing certain is that Shava is a high-ranking being who rarely interacts with other Nightmare Realm creatures.
It is precisely because of this that Angel dares to ask directly, "Do I know you?"
Through Blair's answer, Angel can prepare himself for his next steps.
If Blair were to say it is very familiar with Shava, or has had deep interactions with her, Angel would immediately use conversation tactics to get rid of Blair, to avoid exposing his disguise.
