Ming Mei never expected to get pregnant so quickly, but now that she was, she was determined to receive the treatment a pregnant woman deserved. Whether others valued her or not, she certainly valued herself. Her mother had once said, "A woman, when pregnant, needs to be well-nurtured. Normally, whatever nutrients you consume are for yourself, but now there's a child competing for them."
Ming Mei found this reasoning quite sensible, so late at night, she decided to treat herself to a late-night snack, munching on two biscuits.
As Zhuang Zhixi returned with water, he noticed her eating again but didn't say anything. Instead, he poured her a cup of water and dropped a White Rabbit candy into it. Ming Mei looked at the cup and commented, "They say White Rabbit candies are like milk, but even if you put one in a cup, it doesn't really dissolve."
Zhuang Zhixi replied, "Just leave it there."
