As the wind gets cooler, the sand creates footprints with water washing it away. Their skin feeling the warmth of the water as minutes past by. Alex sat down on a rock to settle her tired legs while Lea sat beside her watching the clear sky with stars and the moon that give a bright contrast to the view. A moment of awkwardness came when Alex wanted to ask who could that man be. As she opened her mouth but no sound came out, Lea asked, "Are you curious too?"
Alex was dumbstruck. Mixed emotions started to raise in her heart.
Lea added, "We have nothing to loose."
Alex was about to say something when Lea pulled her by her arm and tugged her to where the man ran into.
Alex's heart beats violently and she managed to calm herself. "I want to know who this man is." She thought.
They came across a restaurant not far from the road. Alex felt her stomach rumble as she smell the delicious seafood grilled by the restaurant. They entered and the atmosphere is nice with western touch. They sat next to a window where they can see the view of the night sky.
A waiter approached and handed them a menu. Alex ordered a steak while Lea ordered surf and turf. When they finished ordering,they found the man sitting next to their table. Alex heart trembled at the sight of the man. Lea knew that Alex might confused the man with someone she knows but she must asked the man before Alex assumes something.
Lea looked at Alex seriously and said, "I will ask him."
Alex was shocked when she heard Lea. Alex pulled Lea's arm and said, "Don't do it. That man might think we are following him."
"Are you hearing yourself right now?" Lea asked.
"I got this. Trust me." Lea reassured her.
Lea left her seat to approach the mystery man but was not expecting that a man will have a guest with him. A man who is tall, fair and lean figure was a friend of the mystery man. He has a really nice suit and an aristocratic aura in him. One could tell he is a businessman. Both men were enjoying their meals when the mystery man hold sight of Lea. Lea felt awkward when she saw the man starting at her. The mystery man searched the room for Alex and a smile appeared on his face. Lea stopped midway staring at the mystery man and decided to turn around and went back to seat with Alex.
Alex saw Lea sat back and asked, "Did you talk to him?"
Lea told her what happened. Alex peaked through Lea and saw the man staring at their table. She felt nervous and wanted to dart out of the restaurant but Lea held her hand and said, "Let's eat first, please. I'm hungry." Alex calmed down and settled at her seat. "Ok, but when we finish this food, I might not want to see that man anymore. Let's leave right away." Alex was flustered, transfixed at the mystery man's direction.
"In one condition." Lea said.
"What condition?" Alex asked.
The mystery man passed by their table and stared at Alex. They both froze in their seats. Alex grabbed her water and drank it in one gulp. Lea giggled at the sight of Alex. The awkwardness broke when the waiter served their dish.
"A steak for Miss..."
"Alex!" replied Alex.
The mystery man turned around and looked at her. She was caught off guard by his stare. She accidentally knocked off her empty glass.
"I'm so sorry." Alex said in a worried voice as she clumsily puts the glass straight.
"Are you alright?" Lea asked. She looked at where Alex's line of sight. She noticed the man staring at Alex. She was confused why the man is staring at Alex.
The waiter hands over the steak to Alex and said, "The surf and turf is for Miss..."
"Lea." replied Lea.
The mystery man left the restaurant. A sigh of relief filled their breaths.
"Well, that was a disaster." Lea said.
"That was embarrassing. This is one memory I should forget." Alex said.
They both laughed and ate their food. They enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and filled their stomachs.
Alex left Lea and went to the comfort room to pamper up before leaving when the mystery man came back and forgot something. Lea saw him and had the urge to tell Alex and inform her that the man showed up. Alex was about to leave the the comfort room when Lea went in.
"Ahh!!" screamed Alex. Alex saw panic in Lea's eyes.
Lea said, "Calm down. He's back."
Alex opened her mouth but no sound left from her. She knew that the mystery man is in the restaurant again. They both heard the receptionist and the man's conversation.
"Did you see my earphones? I might have lost it in the restaurant. Can you help me please? the mystery man said.
"Sir, I can help you. Please come in and we will search for it." The receptionist said.
"Thank You." replied the mystery man.
In the comfort room...
They both managed to have the courage to leave when they peaked through the door and saw the mystery man's sillouette upon opening the door. They both decided that they must leave when that man comes in the restaurant. A creek from the door was heard when both the receptionist and man stared at the door and saw both of them leaving. When they reached their table, the waiter approached them and handed them the bill which was something they had forgotten. There was guilt in Alex and Lea's eyes. Alex was going to the counter when the mystery man showed up and paid their bill. This surprised Alex. She managed her courage and said, "Thank you but I must pay you back in return." She handed him her money but the man said, "I insist. I was guilty when I bumped into your friend, Lea." Alex was stunned by what he said.
"Who is Lea?" Alex probed.
The mystery man pointed at Lea's direction.
"How did you know her name?" Alex asked.
When she turned around, she saw that she was talking to the air. He was gone. Alex felt confused but when she was about to leave, there was a note next to her hand. She took it and left with Lea.
After they left the restaurant, Alex was contemplating about something. Will she tell her bestfriend or will she venture out herself. She felt a nudge on her shoulder.
"What is it now?" Lea asked.
"Well..." Alex said.
"Did you ask his name?" Lea probed.
"No. He just knew your name." Alex said.
Lea was shocked when Alex said that.
"The night is still young, we should have fun! No more shenanigans." Lea said.
"Sure! I rest my case." Alex replied.
They both went home after watching a Disney movie. As she bids goodbye to Lea, she opened her apartment and took in the note that was left beside her hand. She noticed that there was a thing inside it. She opened it when she heard a knock on the door. She immediately hid the note in her pocket and opened the door. A neighbor just checked in to know how she was doing. They both talked about a series of topics and bid farewell knowing she was fine. She closed the door, took a bath, changed into her pajamas and checked her phone for messages. It was 10:30pm when she groggily yawn. She was about to fall asleep when she remembered the note. She looked for it in the laundry and found it in her pocket.
She unfold it and it says, "Meet me in this restaurant at 6pm tomorrow. My earphones are with you. You already know my name."
She saw a pair of earphones and that puzzled her more. Who could this mystery man be?
