As always, it was only the wealthy who possessed spatial rings. The rest had to make use of transport systems available to their region and purchasing ability. Clearly, this merchant convoy couldn't afford to hire Immortal Emperors or Empyreans, or it would put a big dent in their profit. For the same reason, they couldn't afford obtaining higher grade spatial rings as well.
During battles, they get destroyed or simply stolen, never to see the light of day, as they get sold along with the stolen goods and sold in some other region or even a realm. This leads to a great scarcity of spatial rings, making them more expensive.
