After graduating high school, Elise Johnson found herself drifting through life with no plans, no direction, and no sense of purpose. Each day slipped by to the next as she put off life decisions more and more; she slowly sank into a cycle of apathy and frustration.
Night soon became her escape from her conflicted life and lethargy. One night, sitting alone on a worn-out bench outside her apartment, a cigarette burning between her fingers, and her thoughts swirling. She watched the sky before noticing something faint atop the buildings in her city block.
Dark silhouettes gliding atop the surrounding buildings, watching from above. At first, she thought it was nothing, just tricks of the light, or her mind playing games. But something about them felt off.
And in that moment, without realizing it, Elise stepped into something far bigger than herself. Because that night wasn’t just another pointless night, it was the beginning of everything.
