Is It Wrong To Reach For The Pinnacle?
Vali belonged to a world fated to end. A world of monsters and hunters.... Rarely can one say that a hunter becomes the hunted, yet that was the very fate of this world. Who could have known that our world would fall prey to "Monsters" of all things.
They came from "Gates". So many of them... In the beginning, the world forgot it's wars and united as one. Men were drafted to fight these abominations, "Hunters", they called us. They trained us to take down these titans who encroached upon our world. Some of us dared to enter Gates and encroach upon theirs.... only to never return.
"Armageddon, Pralaya, Ragnarök.... So many names... for the death of this world. Monsters cover our skies, poison our waters, and pollute our very soil. Entropy is all the same." Vali thought. He was amongst the last few holding out in this dying world.
That was perhaps soon to change. Afterall, he was surrounded by monsters.... He slashed and stabbed with his sword, bringing many of the smaller ones down. He doubted if any machine could ever remove all the stains of the monster blood on his shirt, not that he would have luck finding any amongst this wreckage, especially considering their scarcity.
His mind would be racing in nostalgia of the times before these "Monsters" had he not noticed that he rested in the shade of a "Titan", newly arising from it's "Gate". He could not win against.... "that".
He could not have guessed that the Titan would throw him into a Gate... where a new world awaited his arrival!
